The Fashion Outsider was an online fashion magazine I produced with a fabulous team of volunteers. We wanted to show readers the process as well as the final product, it was quite an extensive project and we shared every part through social media. Post subjects included industry news, colour forecasting, style trends, beauty tutorials, product reviews and storyboards. Prior to the magazine, I was shooting fashion creatives with a great team here in Winnipeg.
“Very passionate about the work we were creating, I really wanted to share it with others.
In addition to posting editorials and fashion tips, our voice and attitude gave readers permission to love it or leave it. We used social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram as well as free online tools such as Mail Chimp, WordPress and Juxtapost It to collaborate with one another and communicate with out readers. We met twice a month, once to discuss the upcoming issue and plan out seasonal stories and then for our monthly photoshoots where we shot everything we needed for that month’s issue. The rest of our communication and brainstorming happened online.
